Working
Groups

QMA has many moving parts, and we would love all members to consider being involved in a working group. No experience required.

Where we are focusing

QMA's current strategic plan focuses on three areas:

  • improving the athlete experience
  • increasing participation through promotion and publicity
  • improving the administration of QMA

We have set up three working groups to help devise and implement strategies to achieve these goals, and we want your involvement.

Athlete Experience

Chaired by Heather Lamb

This is a great home for people passionate about improving events and training for our members.

Currently reviewing
  • improving the competition environment, through technology or otherwise
  • inclusivity
  • the social side of masters athletics
  • medals and awards

Promotion and Publicity

Chaired by Rob Lasker

This might be the team for you if you're creative, like social media or have marketing experience.

We meet once a fortnight online.

Currently working on
  • new website and content development
  • social media outreach
  • being findable in search results
  • traditional media

Administration

Chaired by Nick MacMillan

This is an excellent group for people with a head for figures, an eye for detail, and an appetite for frank and fearless review.

Current priorities include
  • the Association's financial structure
  • risk management
  • funding and grants
  • mandatory reporting
  • technology improvements
  • the QMA and regional relationship, and what we offer

Getting involved

To ensure we have a broad cross section of ideas, we invite every QMA member to get involved. The groups only work if they represent more than the people who already turn up to meetings.

Come along to one meeting and see whether it suits you. There is no obligation to stay.

Each group sets its own agenda and methods of communication. And distance is no object. Online video meetings, WhatsApp and many other tools can allow all members to be involved. We expect the groups to report on their plans at regular intervals, and to implement some of the agreed changes by the start of next season.

Express your interest

Email the QMA Secretary, saying which group interests you.

Email the secretary

Not sure which group? Say so, and we will point you at the one that best fits.

Other ways to help

Working groups shape what QMA does. There is also plenty to do on meet days, and behind the scenes.
