Management Team

QMA is run by athletes, for athletes. Our committee are elected annually by the membership.

Executive

President
Nick MacMillan

Nick has been a QMA member since 2022, and QMA president since 2024, alongside chairing our management committee and serving as a QMA delegate to the AMA Council.

His current events are the M50 decathlon and hammer throw. Nick is also there on weekends to help run competitions at QSAC as competition director and photo finish operator and is a member of the organising committees for events such as Oceania Masters Championships and Australian Masters Athletics Combined Event Championships.

Nick’s career outside athletics includes over 25 years’ experience in construction, energy and major infrastructure projects, as a lawyer (in private practice and in-house) and in senior commercial roles.

He has previously been secretary of a body corporate and a school governor. He has been a Basketball Queensland Level 1 Club Coach for his kids’ high school, and competition director for Modern Pentathlon Australia events.

Nick’s current focus for QMA includes developing our volunteer roles and experience, modernising an already great association to meet the high expectations of what is now an Olympic city and expanding QMA’s presence in regional Queensland.

Vice President
David Reed

David is a married father of two teenage athletes and lives on the Sunshine Coast. A passionate advocate for masters athletics as a lifestyle choice, he brings extensive experience in business, engineering, project management and commercial operations. David has previously held the position of treasurer for a not-for-profit (2005-2010) and treasurer for a body corporate (2014-2016).

With a strong work ethic and as a keen competitor, David is committed to the sustainable growth and retention of QMA members. He is particularly interested in leveraging the considerable knowledge, skills and experience within the QMA community for the benefit of all members.

Secretary
Rob Lasker

A QMA member for 14 years, Rob competes in sprints, high jump and occasionally javelin – not at a high level, but as for most masters athletes it’s all about having a go and enjoying the experience.

Rob has held various roles on the QMA Management Committee and in support jobs over the years: secretary, vice president, registrar, committee member, webmaster and working group chair.

His experience in a previous life as a software engineering manager and in financial planning has given him the tools to work effectively with others for the general benefit of an organisation like QMA.

Rob seeks to work with others to enhance the masters athletics experience for all current and future participants throughout Queensland. Rob will also put his attention to detail and record keeping skills to good use when he takes over the role of QMA statistician from Jim Quabba later in 2026.

Tina Eilola

A dedicated QMA member and throws competitor since 2016. Tina serves as the committee’s youngest member, bringing fresh perspective, organisational oversight, and strong athlete advocacy to the board.

Tina is deeply committed to representing the collective interests of the QMA community. Her primary focus is ensuring club operations remain transparent, align with member needs, and support the long-term growth and aspirations of masters athletes across Queensland.

Committee member (Grants Officer)
Brenda Gannon

Brenda has been a QMA member since 2017. She manages and advises on grant applications alongside building connections across QMA, Queensland Athletics (QA) and Queensland Race Walking Club, where she currently serves as vice president.

Brenda competes in the W50 category with QMA, but you’ll also find her still racing in open QA events. She placed 4th in the QA Half Marathon open road race walk 2026, and qualified for the Australian Athletics National Championships half marathon championships 2026 as well as the 10,000m track every year since 2020.
