About the venue
The Gold Coast Performance Centre sits at Runaway Bay, and its track and field facility was recently refurbished to World Athletics standard. Eight lanes, a turf infield, and provision for the full range of running, jumping and throwing events.
It is the home of QMA's Gold Coast competition program, and is open for training outside event bookings.
Training access
The track is open for casual visits during centre opening hours, except when an event or an exclusive booking is on. Casual access for the track is $4.80 per person.
Throws sessions must be booked in advance. Contact the centre before turning up with implements.
SmarTrack timing
The centre was the first facility in Queensland to install SmarTrack, a system built into the track surface that records speed, split times, distance and acceleration as you run. Sessions can be reviewed afterwards through the platform, which makes it a useful venue if you are working on pacing or acceleration rather than just racing the clock.
For competition meets
The stadium has undercover seating for over 550 people, a track booth in the grandstand, athletics equipment on site, and photo finish timing available on request. Parking is ample and a canteen can be arranged. Note that the western side of the stadium seating is no longer in use.
